Water is a fundamental element for life and acts in several areas of our body. Regular consumption contributes to the control of overweight, helps to prevent the onset of kidney diseases, rheumatism, circulatory, respiratory and cardiac problems. In addition, water also prevents the appearance of cramps, premature aging and strengthens the skin, leaving it more beautiful and hydrated. Despite being our best friend, water needs to go through several cleaning processes before it is ingested. When we drink water directly from the tap, without having it filtered before, we are exposed to various types of contamination and diseases. Even though it is considered suitable for consumption in most of Pakistan, the water that comes from the tap can contain chemical and medicinal residues, heavy metals, bacteria, viruses, and parasites. This is because, even though it is treated in water filtration plants, it can end up being contaminated in improper storage or by plumbing systems, which are often dirty and even rusty.

What kind of diseases can drinking tap water cause?

By consuming unfiltered water, we are exposed to the risk of having several diseases, such as hepatitis A, schistosomiasis, cholera, leptospirosis and gastroenteritis. Generally, the main symptoms of those who are drinking contaminated water are fever, chills, stomach pains, loss of appetite, vomiting, and diarrhea. If you often experience any of these symptoms, be aware of the water you drink. Another major problem for those who drink water directly from the tap is exposure to the accumulation of heavy metals. The disposal of industrial waste is the main source of contamination of rivers. This is because some metallurgical industries, of paints, chlorine and PVC plastic, use metals that, when they are released irregularly in the sewers, contaminate our water. The main ones are:

· Mercury attacks the nervous system;

· Lead: can cause cancer;

· Arsenic: accumulates in the kidney and liver, causing problems in several organs;

· Chromium: in excess, it generates headaches, dizziness, urinary changes, nosebleeds, loss of appetite, hives, among other symptoms.

Chlorine in water:

In addition to all these substances mentioned, the water that arrives at our tap has the addition of chlorine in its composition. It cannot be denied that chlorine is effective in disinfecting water, as it is able to eliminate bad bacteria present in the liquid and prevent them from being ingested. However, it also kills bacteria essential to our body, which contributes to the proper functioning of our intestines. Chlorine is also associated with respiratory problems, problems with the production of thyroid hormones, burns in the mouth, throat, esophagus, and stomach, and the feeling of nausea and indigestion. The best way to combat all these side effects is to use water filtration plants. This equipment acts as a complement to the treatment that is already carried out in the country's water centers. By adding a purifier to your routine, you have the guarantee of safe water consumption for you and your family.
