How does a water softener work?
A water softener works with a filter that is filled with resin pellets. When the water runs through these granules, the lime and magnesium are removed from the water and you get soft water as a result. The filters are then automatically cleaned with salt. You can buy these machines on an electronic basis, but also on a mechanical basis. Electronic machines look at your water use and adjust their program accordingly, while mechanical devices work with a time clock that you can set yourself.
