How to choose and install a water treatment system for a home

One of the main problems that happy newcomers to private houses and cottages face is the poor quality of tap water. At the same time, as numerous studies show, it does not matter which source of water supply is a well, a well or a central water supply: water leaves much to be desired in all cases. And if such water can still be used for domestic and technical purposes, then it is not suitable for regular drinking and cooking. In order not to encounter a similar problem, you must initially properly organize the water treatment system. We suggest that you familiarize yourself with the most important recommendations for resolving this issue.

Features of choosing a water treatment system for a private house

High levels of iron and increased hardness of tap water are the most common problems faced by residents of Pakistani apartments. In this case, you can purchase a filter jug type or nozzle on the crane. However, such devices are unsuitable for a country house, since water from wells and wells often has very specific types of pollution that cannot be eliminated with such simple filtration systems. A high concentration of organic substances and minerals makes the water cloudy, and dissolved iron ions - brown. Do not forget about large mechanical particles, viruses, and bacteria. In connection with all of the above, the first recommendation for owners of private houses is not to be lazy and to conduct a chemical and bacteriological analysis of the water entering the taps. In-country cottages, the water filter for home, as a rule, is organized using multistage main filters, which are built into the pipeline and immediately clean the entire volume of incoming water. Such a system consists of a chain of filters, each of which removes certain types of impurities. In this case, the water treatment system should be chosen not only on the basis of the analysis but also taking into account the necessary performance (throughput). If the productivity and pressure in the pipe are lower than required, then the meaning of installing the system is lost - it simply will not cope with the processing of the entire incoming water volume. For the right choice of a water treatment system, it is worth understanding the types of main filters available on the market.

Types of water treatment systems for cottages

First of all, home water treatment systems differ in the degree of purification, which can be coarse and thin. The coarse filter is designed to remove mechanical particles and can be installed separately, in the utility room. Fine filters, in this case, are mounted directly in residential premises - in the kitchen, in the bathroom. However, at the request of the owners, all elements of the water treatment system can be combined in a single complex, without a territorial breakdown of the area of the house. Choosing a water treatment system according to the purification steps should be based on what types of contaminants are contained in the water: To eliminate the increased stiffness, filters are used in which, for example, the cationization or electrodialysis method is implemented. To solve the problem of high acidity, filtration systems based on granular calcium carbonate or semi-calcined dolomite are used. Viruses, bacteria and spore forms are destroyed by treating the water with chlorine, ozone or ultraviolet light. Excess iron is removed by filters that implement the aeration method (intensification of the oxidation process in the pipeline), as well as treatment with ozone, chlorine or sodium hypochlorite. Depending on the tasks and implemented cleaning methods, filters are divided into the following varieties: strainers - for cleaning from mechanical impurities; filters with sorbent - to remove iron; aeration columns - for cleaning from hydrogen sulfide; modules with ion-exchange resins, magnetic or electromagnetic filters - to soften water and eliminate excess iron; carbon filters - for fine cleaning and removing the smell of chlorine; filters with reverse osmosis membrane - for maximum water purification; UV lamps or ionizers - for disinfection. Thus, the number of stages of cleaning is affected by the types of pollution and their saturation. In the event that the only problem with water is increased rigidity, it makes no sense to buy an expensive five- or seven-stage filter with a reverse osmosis unit and an ultraviolet lamp. It will be enough to purchase a module with a softener. For water with high iron content, you should buy a deferred, and for soft water - a special mineralizer.
